Agile For All Humanizing Work Conference

Last week, I attended the Agile For All Humanizing Work Conference.  Essentially, this conference is designed to move Agile For All alumni further along the Agile thinking and skill continuum in the shortest time possible.  That’s a hefty goal and yet, I found myself standing in a circle at the close of the conference with all sorts of feelings that deserve to be acknowledged:

    • Educated: Since I was new to the team, I didn’t have many sessions.  Two in fact, so I had plenty of time to attend sessions.  My selection process was based on wanting to experience each facilitator’s approach.  The bonus was that in each session, I learned something new.  Sometimes, it was really small.  Sometimes, it was large.  Sometimes, it was just a reminder that when we pass people and say Hi…to really mean it.  Oh, and that I can’t serve a ping pong ball at all!
    • Grateful: Here I am in this amazing location of Beaver Creek surrounded by people that have formed new bonds and insights over the last several days.  Not everyone gets to say that they love what they do for work.  I do again!  I couldn’t be more grateful to be able to say that 🙂
    • Connected: I didn’t know everyone that works for Agile For All.  This week was the first real interaction and it was extremely positive for me.  I laughed so hard this week – even when it was at my expense.  I felt heard.  I felt appreciated.  I felt respected.  I felt like part of the team.
    • Pride: This was an amazing event for attendees and facilitators.  This was not a typical conference – from random start times to random quiz point allocations; from intense coaching moments to mocking my fear of prairie dogs; from only one conference room with a projector to running out of wall space.  This conference was different. I am proud to be a part of providing this experience.  I am proud to have these colleagues.  And I am proud that I am helping to make a difference.

This may not be my appreciation post but saying thank you to everyone for sharing in an amazing week is the least that should be said.
