Appreciation Post – Kim Brainard

Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an after thought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.

This round:  Kim Brainard

I met Kim a few years ago in the Agile community.  There are people that you meet and feel instantly that your journeys and lives were just meant to cross paths. Now there are many things that I could appreciate Kim for: making the extra effort to check from time to time, to creating an energy while hanging out, and to just having deep vulnerable conversations to support each other.

What prompted this specific appreciation was hearing her interview on Ryan Ripley’s podcast (https://ryanripley.com/agile-for-humans/ episode 110).  First, she was detailed about her journey to becoming a CST (Certified Scrum Trainer).  Second, she embraced her human reactions and owned her reflection and learning.  Third, she shared the perspective from different players (TAC) in the process.  Fourth, she shared the essence multiple times such as why do you want to train.  Fifth, she provided great tips such as find your personal connection to each topic/definition/etc. Lastly, she appreciated numerous people that stepped up for her in various ways.  We often say this is a tribe but the impact we have on each other is quite amazing.  Anything you need…always!

I’m grateful for having you a part of my life – in our travels, in our learning and in our lives.  Thank you!

Tricia
