Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an after thought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.
This round: Kim Scroggins Getty
I met Kim in the late 90s at Crowe Chizek. Our friendship naturally developed at work and outside of work. So much so that she was often the person I called when I was facing a struggle as a female developer. So I could spend several posts dedicated to the various ways that Kim has made a difference in my life for all of these years.
I’ve chosen to focus this appreciation post on the most recent impact. I’m actually going to share her words because I couldn’t have said it better:
“…true, real, meaningful friendships. There are just some people that are special, from the moment you meet them. No matter how much you see/talk to them, you know they’d have your back in a heartbeat. You know if you were gifted any amount of time to spend with them, it’d be like you saw them the day before – you’d talk nonstop & when your time was up, you’d leave w/happy tears but a fuller heart.” “
Not shocking to me the in the least bit, she is 100% right. She highlighted our friendship in ways that remind me of what matters most. That there are people you cross paths with that forever alter your course, that help you develop into the person you are today and that never really leave your side.
So thank you Kim. I am so lucky to have you in my life for all of these years!
