Appreciation Post – Reese Schmit

Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an after thought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.

This round:  Reese Schmit

I met Reese a few years ago at an Agile conference.  People always talk about first impressions being important.  Reese made an incredible first impression on me.  Without going into details, let’s just say, she immediately demonstrated exactly who she is – a woman that is dependable, caring and willing to help in anyway she can.

This appreciation could be for many elements over the past few years.  However, I really wanted to call out my most recent interaction with Reese.  She was in Denver for helping with the Scrum Gathering program.  Before arriving, she made a point to make sure we would be able to connect for dinner.  As I picked her up, I immediately felt simply happy.  We spent the next few hours talking about basically everything.  Work, Family, Life – this beautiful conversation back and forth engaging and wanting to hear all about what the other is doing/feeling.  I am in awe of the personal and professional work that Reese has focused on especially in the last few months.  She inspires me and reminds me to always go back to the core of what is really valuable.  I’m a better woman, friend, and leader because of your influence.  Thank you!
