Appreciation Post – Rob Meyers

Unfortunately, saying thank you seems to be an after thought more and more. So at least once a month, I will take a few minutes to publicly appreciate someone that has had an impact on me.

This round:  Rob Meyers

I first met Rob several years ago at a conference.  His passion for technical practices is undeniable and as a recovering developer – music to my ears.  So I was thrilled when he decided to join us at Agile For All.

I’m not surprised in the least bit but twice in the past few weeks, Rob has demonstrated exactly why I joined the Agile For All family over being independent.  The first moment was when I discovered that a vendor had been sharing alternate facts with people about me.  Rob, without hesitation, simply said “strike three”, I’m out.  I don’t need anyone addressing my conflicts, or taking sides, etc. Yet, in that moment, I cannot deny the support I felt.  I wasn’t alone – I was part of a team.  The second moment was when I expressed an internal struggle that I often face with am I a practitioner that doesn’t fit in the world of selling myself.  Not only did he recognize my struggle, he didn’t try to fix it, he didn’t let it get dismissed (continuing the conversation down another path), and he followed up to highlight the impact that I make no matter the role I’m in.  Again, I wasn’t alone – I was part of a team.  A team of amazing people that inspire and challenge me.

So thank you Rob, I’m extremely lucky to have you in my life.
